What do so about Climate Change

1) Advocate to politicians (especially local politicians!) to support:

• Public Transit

• Green energy

• Laws that require efficiency in buildings

2) Break up with Fossil Fuels

• Contact your electric company and switch to a provider that sources their energy from green sources, like wind, geothermal, or solar.

• Get solar panels!

• Switch to electric appliances instead of gas

3) Reduce consumption

• Eat those leftovers! Share your extras.

• Buy less stuff! Share stuff you have with your friends and family so THEY have to buy less stuff.

4) Don't use AI!

• AI, from ChatGPT and search engines to AI art, is extremely energy-hungry. Write your own emails. Draw your own doodles (or hire artists!).

5) Take public transit, or at LEAST share your ubers/lyfts

• Taking public transit is the best way to get around, but we know it's not a perfect solution all the time. Make things cheaper for yourself and your friends by sharing an uber if you're going in the same direction. Offer a ride to prevent another car on the road to events.

6) Decrease energy consumption

• Effectively insulating your windows and doors will decrease your energy bill and reduce energy consumption

• Choose energy efficient appliances

7) Talk to your friends and family about climate change

• Social science suggests that people are most likely to change their behaviors based on how their social circles behave. Guilt doesn't work, and shame isn't super effective either. Be a positive influence in your social group. Preventing climate change doesn't have to be annoying, and we can stop it together!

How to support plants and animals during a mass extinction

1) Plant Native Plants

If you live in the sububs, load your yard up with as many plants as you can. If you live in the city, add some pots in plants to your sidewalk. Every little bit helps, especially for small creatures like insects that desperately need our help.

2) Stop using pesticides

Insects are the base of the food chain on land (right above plants). Whether your favorite cute animal is a bug, eats bugs, eats fruit that needs bugs to grow, or eats animals that eats bugs, it all comes down to one reality: we need bugs!! When you use chemicals that kill insects, you're hurting more than the critters you kill directly.

3) Kill your lawn, replace it with more useful plants (like flowers and plants with leaves that critters like to eat!)
